We are specialists in 'out of manufacturers guarantee' repairs and damage assesment. If you have had a quotation by your manufacturer or an unsatisfactory attempt of repair from your local PC repair shop - then we recommend you speak to us. Manufacturers will not repair your laptop to component level and from our experience when you have a processor fault they are likely to quote you for a complete motherboard & processor - even if there is nothing wrong with the board - be warned - we have seen this on several occasions. We find all manufacturer ex warranty repair pricing - excessive. PC repair shops on the other hand should stick to what they are good at - your typical response to a basic power supply fault - would be - "your motherboard is faulty" - any bright 5 year old can fix a PC which is a bit like a meccano set as most pc parts are universal. I think its enough to say that most PC shops would not know what a laptop invertor board is let alone how to fix it - ask for their qualifications and remember that repairs carried out by unqualified engineers could be dangerous.
Notebooks UK employs Senior IT Consultants should you need advice on your repair or service. Our electonics engineers have a minimum of 10 years experience in component level repair. All engineers are qualified (City & Guilds in Electronics & Servicing - with distictions). We diagnose faults to micro-component level which is labour intensive but means we are able to offer significant savings over conventional methods of swapping whole components. This allows us to work on a fixed price basis. Our equipment includes top of the range oscilloscopes, multimeters, surface mount chip removers, needle-point soldering irons - large stock of ics, capacitors & thousands of parts.
The fixed price repair works like this - we strip down the laptop to the bare board - inspect the board - if a fault is found we mark the offending item & look for an underlying reason why this component went wrong. we then fix the laptop, re-assemble and test the repair is stable for 24 hours. This method gives us a 90-95% success rate on any motherboard, PSB or screen invertor board repair. What is even better is that we have a 2-4% recurrance rate on the jobs carried out. Capacitors, fets, fuses, standard intergrated circuits/controllers, tracks, power circuits, keyboards, on board memory, most screen invertors, mouse faults are all included in our fixed price.
